The Elegance called Ghazal

Ever so slowly it silently sublimes

As effortless as the mild windchimes

We innocently seek its flavor

Like a baby, breasts who nuzzles

Beckoned lovingly by the mother

The Elegance called Ghazal

It gently places its introduction

Among so very gentle beats

And then itself it suavely repeats

Repeats and yet again repeats

Much like the damsel who throbs our hearts

Every moment afresh, Oh what a puzzle

The iterations don’t vex us but soothe

Defining The Elegance called Ghazal

The recapitulations culminate into something so

Obvious that even a child would know

And yet through that very uncultured simplicity

Full of poise and effortless serenity

As opposed to, the sometimes pompously artistic

Classical songs rich in nuanced musical troubles

Haunts the hearts of common folks

The Elegance called Ghazal

It goes on creating climaxes of no climax

Unriddling the riddles, minds which hardly tax

Reeking in predictability, every concluding line sings

And yet far above the lowly clouds of boredom

The ever-renewing beauty of the lyrics spread their wings

Like lovemaking with the beloved

Essentially the same and yet full of springing newness subtle

It embraces, bewitched, and enchants us

The Elegance called Ghazal
